I was torn on what to rate this place. I ended up with a 4 because if I ordered take out, I would have given it a 5 (well, a 4.5) based on the food. My dining in experience was a 3... so I figured all in I'd give it a 4. So what made the experience so good if I had ordered take out? The food was really good! My potatoes (as a side to my Eggs Benedict was under cooked (hence the half point deduction)), but my husband's potatoes were fine. And the Eggs Benedict was #chefskiss from the perfectly cooked eggs to the delicious sauce. As you can see from the picture below, even though we were dining in, our food was served in a take out container. I would actually have been turned off from the point of view that that didn't seem very eco-friendly and all that) but coincidentally there was an interview for a waitress position going on while we ate so we overheard a discussion about how the restaurant is currently using take out containers and plastic utensils because they didn't have a dishwasher, which bumped the idea of using take out containers up to a pretty ingenious solution for them in my mind. My problem came when I tried to use the plastic utensils. The plastic knife was not up to the task of cutting my English muffin. In my attempts to do so, I got a hand cramp and sauce all over my hands... and the bread still was too tough to cut. I ended up just spearing the whole thing with my fork. The TV was also going full blast on a political channel. Ironically the leanings of that channel actually match my own political view so it wasn't that I had any bias against what was being discussed, it was just too early in the morning in my mind for that decibel of sound. In summary, would I order here again and again and get take out? Absolutely? Would I dine in again? I wouldn't go out of my way to do so... but nothing was a deal breaker (although here's hoping the dish washing situation is fixed by the time I return so I can have a better knife).

Stopped in for lunch with my daughter yesterday. I'd been wanting to check it out for awhile. I'm glad we did and we will be back for more! Aunty was the sweetest, busy and all she was still so kind. Cute open air seating was perfect. I got the Hawaiian plate special. Honestly one of the best I've had in a long time. Giant laulau, back yard style kalua, big scoop of rice and mac salad, poi and poke. So ono. My daughter loved her tofu stir fry, that's huge for my 10 year old tofu connoisseur lol. But definitely will return, so many options on the menu and true service with aloha. Mahalo Dimple Cheek ohana.

It was my first time to Kurtistown. By the looks of it, this little town is very cute and quaint! It was raining the day we went as well as Hilo. Dimple Cheek is such a cute name for a business. They weren't busy at the time so we sat down rather quickly in the open air. Beautiful wood table with bench seating. The menu had lots of good options, all of which I wanted to try. Instead I tried the Hurricane Fries (not pictured), Ono Fish Tacos, and Deep Fried Musubi. The customer service was great in the beginning but as soon as it was getting busier, the waitress couldn't hear us whenever we called for help. The deep fried musubis with furikake, unagi sauce, and wasabi aioli was total gamechanger! We usually don't use wasabi aioli. This was the only exception! It made us want to deep fry our musubis the next time we make our own. The Hurricane Fries has the same toppings as the musubis. Again, something we don't normally get but for some reason it worked. The wasabi and unagi balanced each other out and still gave that little kick at the end. As for the Ono Fish Tacos weren't so ono after all. Presentation wise it looks great. After a few bites I found myself chewing more than I should. My jaw started hurting and I had to save the second taco for later. Next door is a small grocery store, where residents in the area can also get their essentials. It looks like the next grocery store would be in Keaau. This was nice to see so residents can save the drive from going to Hilo. Dimple Cheek, I'd still come back the next time I'm in Kurtistown. Almost forgot, they charge extra when you split your meals...
